achilles too

i forgot to mention the main character of the movie. he was the real reason we went - nancy claimed that he (brad pitt, not achilles himself) "asked her to the movies" and she was being kind and inviting us all along too. the plan was for nancy and tiffany to each hold one of his hands and tiffany was nice enough to say that i could sit by her and lean over to "smell him" as much as i liked. since nancy didn't show up, the plans changed; tiffany and i each held his hand and jodi sat on his lap. it was, of course, a good time.

still here

i wrote a post yesterday afternoon. it was all melodramatic about how it was thursday and there was never again to be a new episode of friends. it also covered some more real-life/important topics. for some unkown reason, it would not post itself. in any case, i apologize for my negligence to our blog.

now it is friday and tomorrow is the day to get to see my sister!! i have gone a whole three weeks or some ungodly amount of time such as that without seeing her and i miss her. drive safely, pril.

i went to the movie "troy" tonight with tiffany and jodi from work. nancy was supposed to be there also, but her granddaughter was sick and she needed to get home. the movie was quite good although it was also quite bloody. maybe you could say it was bloody good. it was fun to see agamemnon, odysseus, helen, hector and the others i have read about "in person."

we needed "normal" blood samples at work today - to validate new instruments and new lots of reagents and the like. we put up posters and offered prizes to those who allowed us to draw their blood. some of the samples were supposed to be "abnormals" for lactic acid (that's what builds up and causes your muscles to burn when you exercise) and so the people that were willing to fatigue their muscles before being drawn were given extra prizes. so, tiffany and i ran up and down the stairs several times and then drew each other's blood and then got free ice cream coupons for the cafeteria, as well as low-carb hershey's bars with soy crispy things and a little heart charm thingy. in any case, it was a good time and we got some free food out of the deal.

Hey!

Where the heck did everyone go? It was a frequent flurry of posts, and then you left me here all alone. :-( It's okay though. I'm fine, really.

In about 25 minutes I'm meeting up with people from Jason's hall to go see Bill Clinton! Jason isn't going because he's moving all his stuff back this afternoon, but I'm going with some of his friends. Jenny and her Dad are going, too, but they have special seats on the floor so I can't sit with them. I have to sit in the normal people section, and it's going to be HOT. Allen Fieldhouse has no airconditioning, and it's definitely 80some degrees outside, and muggy. Oh well, it'll probably be fun anyway.

I'm done with tests AND I just turned in my scholarship application. So all I have left to do are fun things (Bill Clinton, Patti Griffin concert) today and not-so-fun things like move rooms (which will be worth it in the end, but not so fun for one day) tomorrow.

anyway, I need to go eat lunch and get to GP.

Call me soon you crazy ladies!

this doesn't sound like a good thing for mom's career :-)

morning time and the living is easy...

good news - i found out that i don't have to stay until 6:30 in the mornings to get in my 12 hours. when i work night shift, i don't have the extra half hour taken out of my timecard for lunch - since i am the only person here and can't technically "take a break" or what have you.

in any case, angie and i are both tired this morning and might even leave a little bit early. margaret (another tech) came in early today - so we can leave when things slow down.

it has been a crazy night with one lady taking 7 or 8 units of red cells, 2 units of plasma, and 15 of platelets. she kept us busy. i am sure you are like, "yeah, whatever brooke" so i will be quiet now.

i love you both.

Dear Mom,

I talk on my cell phone A LOT. Don't worry, I watch the sprint website to see how many minutes we've used and we're not even close to our limit. But I think in your bill you can see who I talked to and when and everything.

I hope you don't think less of me for talking at 3 in the morning!

Love,
april

p.s. I also send lots of text messages, but don't worry, they're free too.

bill! bill! bill!

i think (depending of course on your degree of readiness for school things this week) that you should camp out. how many times do you get the chance to see a former president? i might also base these things on the weather outside. wake up in the morning and see what's going on and then make your decision. do you have someone to camp with you? do you have some school stuff you could do while you are waiting?

No Bill.

I just tried to go get a ticket to see Bill Clinton speak on Friday, but I missed them by 10 or 15 minutes. The newspaper said 5000 were available for students, faculty, and staff, and would be available from 12-6 today. They were out by 12:30! They did let people pick up 2, so they only technically had to hand out 2500, but still. I got there around 12:40, and they were gone.

I ran into a girl who lives in Sellards on my way there and she said that they had given out the 5000 but were giving out a few extra, so I should hurry. I jogged the rest of the way but still didn't make it!

The ticket people reserved 5000 to give out tomorrow, but it's open to the general public and I could imagine those going out quickly as well.

So the question becomes: should I camp in front of the fieldhouse tomorrow morning at 6 or 7 in hopes of getting a ticket at 9?

questions

Mom--do you have any recipe cards that grandma benson or grandma zelma have given you?

dueling computers

mom and i are playing a little game here on the two computers.

i wanted to mention that the supper i made last night was excellent. pril- i will have to make you some when you come to see me this summer.

i am imagining april waking up this morning and being a bit overwhelmed - not only did mom get signed up for our blog, but there are FOUR new entries! don't keel over, pril.

phone question

sister - do you know how to check messages on my cell phone from another phone?
i was thinking that i will probably be the famous one, but i'm not really sure what i'll do to become famous yet. they will call me "wahoo brooke".
